PLTW Posters at the Capital
On Feb, 24, 2016 six Biomedical Science students participated in the PLTW Posters at the Capital event in Frankfort, KY. In order to be chosen to participate, students had to complete an independent investigative study and prepare a scientific poster detailing their work. The event was scheduled during a legislative session to give students an opportunity to talk with legislators and demonstrate the importance of independent research in the academic setting. Allison Wells, Alissa Rookard, Savannah Muse, Lauren Murphy, Alexis Ridener, and Josie Scruggs are pictured here in front of the capital building. Allison and Alissa did a study on the emerging immunotherapy trends in cancer treatment; Lauren and Savannah investigated the effectiveness of antibacterial hand soap and hand sanitizer; Alexis and Josie studied bacterial contamination in cosmetics.
